Obtain Successes, Not Goals!

Obtain Success, Not Goals
I was wanted to share some challenging “goals” I set out for myself on a few of the social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. What I immediate realize was that I was sending out an excuse that I might make this “goal” but if I don’t… well it was just a goal and I can always change it. Right?

Well, this was not what I wanted to receive back, another goal better yet an excuse.

What I did was change my mindset. I wanted to receive “Success”…
My mindset was immediately changed by accepting the fact that I WILL tell everyone what my successes are…. I did not ask for permission, I did not seek approval or validation, I just did it.  In my mind that have already happened all I will need to do is hurry up and get there!  You see, there are times when you must TELL EVERYONE what will happen before it does and you must believe in this.

Your mindset must not deviate from your success path.
I shared with all my social media buddies that I WILL achieve! My 40 Day Successes Path via posting to my Personal Blog, Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace accounts to include a few others. Today I have obtained successes….

My “40 Day Successes” (Not Goals!) I WILL have
100+ daily blog visits
-AND- I WILL Reach out to 20k Tweeple!

Now, just vision the substitution of the word “Goal” instead of “Successes”…
Notice the discrepancy of the mindset, notice the feeling of a challenge, BUT the added since of “work to be done”. However, by using “Successes”, there is definitely a sense of immediate satisfaction. Don’t get me wrong, we will have to roll up our sleeves; however in the sense of increased satisfaction as we expand our successes.

Basically, all I am trying to convey is our choice of words we use and our choice in reaching and only accepting the best positive “thingies”… LOL! You will always have a choice… So why not chose success. Another reflection here is to write your success down, read your success daily, share your successes with other like-minded-individuals. Yep, this includes me!

At the time of this posting I am just under 13k Twitter followers and my blog stats are averaging 34 daily unique visits.  I will keep you posted on my “40 Day Success Path”. And I am also looking forward to celebrating yours!

So Remember… Obtain Success, Not Goals!

Much Much Success!

Become A Friendlier Person

  1. Don’t criticize, condemn or complain.

  2. Give honest, sincere appreciation.

  3. Arouse in the other person an eager want.

  4. Become genuinely interested in other people.

  5. Smile.

  6. Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.

  7. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.

  8. Talk in terms of the other person’s interests.

  9. Make the other person feel important – and do it sincerely.

Personal Review – How to Win Friends & Influence People
Published first in 1937; this book was an overnight success. Eventually selling 15 million copies, How to Win Friends & Influence People is still a major player in today’s dynamic networking environment as it was when first published. Dale Carnegie’s teaching consisted of “the ability to share ideas, to take on leadership, and to bring out enthusiasm among people.”

The Procrastinator’s Creed:  “The 14 Laws”

  1. I believe that if anything is worth doing, it would have been done already.

  2. I shall never move quickly, except to avoid more work or find excuses.

  3. I will never rush into a job without a lifetime of consideration.

  4. I shall meet all of my deadlines directly in proportion to the amount of bodily injury I could expect to receive from missing them.

  5. I firmly believe that tomorrow holds the possibility for new technologies, astounding discoveries, and a reprieve from my obligations.

  6. I truly believe that all deadlines are unreasonable regardless of the amount of time given.

  7. I shall never forget that the probability of a miracle, though infinitesmally small, is not exactly zero.

  8. If at first I don’t succeed, there is always next year.

  9. I shall always decide not to decide, unless of course I decide to change my mind.

  10. I shall always begin, start, initiate, take the first step, and/or write the first word, when I get around to it.

  11. I obey the law of inverse excuses which demands that the greater the task to be done, the more insignificant the work that must be done prior to beginning the greater task.

  12. I know that the work cycle is not plan/start/finish, but is wait/plan/plan.

  13. I will never put off until tomorrow, what I can forget about forever.

  14. I will become a member of the ancient Order of Two-Headed Turtles (the Procrastinator’s Society) if they ever get it organized.

A Recent Networking Event

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on A Recent Networking Event

I have attended a quite of few networking events over the years. One thing for sure is that every event has a “life” of its own. There is usually a conversation theme amongst the many, but most importantly a “mood” over the general audience. No, this is not going to be another piece on “Networking 101”, but just a personal observation at a recent “networking event”…

The networking event was going just great; people got a chance to give their elevator pitch to the audience and the guest speaker was right on point in connecting with the audience. However, when the session was winding down, I start noticing a handful of people starting to run around stuffing their business cards into everyone’s hand. It seemed like they were on some type of race! “Now hold up here,” I said to one of the them. “What are you doing? Do you actually think your marketing method is effective? I for one don’t find business shoved into my hand a good way to do business.” Now you should have seen this strangest expression on this person’s face… better yet, check out his reply, “Sir, this is not a marketing event, it’s a networking event!”

Astounded by the person’s reply I just shocked my head in disbelief and smiled. As I left the networking event, I added my recently received business card from the gentleman and added it to the collection found in trash can on my way out. 🙂
